Not much of a post today, but I wanted to share a solid documentary about a writer that I am going to spotlight soon: Edgar Allan Poe. He’s one of those writers I read as a kid (I can still feel the first time I read The Black Cat) that had a lasting impression on me, as well as most people who come across his poems and short stories.
I think this documentary from American Masters really captures the feel of his writing and also some impressions from other authors and why they think his writing has lasted, which creates the impression his life was more than just a series of random events and actually was held together by a reoccurring theme of despondence and writing mania.
Enjoy!
