“Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird, I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” — George Eliot
Today’s quote is from the inimitable George Eliot, also known as Mary Ann Evans. She’s the author of numerous outstanding works of fiction, from “Adam Bede” (1859) to “Silas Marner” (1861). Her quote celebrates the beauty of autumn, a season we still have nearly two months to savor. For some of us, as October slips away, it feels like the start of winter, but fear not. I’m here to keep the spirit of fall alive in your hearts.
Now, let’s review last week’s posts to see what we’ve explored on the blog and take a glimpse at what’s coming up next week.
Last Week:
We kicked off last week by offering some final thoughts on Ray Bradbury’s thematically rich novel The Halloween Tree a classic tale that delves into the concepts of life and death. We also delved into the history of Halloween costumes and why we embrace them on October 31st every year.
Furthermore, we analyzed the use of polysyndeton in writing, exploring a few examples to illustrate its usage in text. Moving on, we delved into the realm of spirituality and how it is connected to life and death in writing. Additionally, I provided an outline and discussed the critical reception of Harvest Home (1973) by Thomas Tryon. Lastly, we took a closer look at Jim Harrison’s novella “Legends of the Fall” and its transformation into a theatrical release.
