โ€œLearning without thought is labour lost; thought without learning is perilous.โ€ —ย Confucius.ย The Sayings of Confucius

Greetings!

As we delve back into the blog and embark on a new book study (Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson), it’s always an opportune moment to reflect on current and past circumstances. I’ve recently started a new teaching position, which is keeping me quite occupied. Nonetheless, it’s less demanding than my previous teaching role, for which I am immensely grateful. This change affords me more time to dedicate to blogging, and being closer to home is a blessing in itself.

Having said that, I aspire to continue my blogging journey on The Writing Post, despite taking some time to write a few essays and poems on a different blog. The Writing Post demands a certain level of commitment, so I must make sure that I am at full strength when tackling research and blog posts.

Without further ado, let us reflect on last weekโ€™s posts and take a look at whatโ€™s coming for next week!

Last Week

We began the week by analyzing the first few chapters of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. We delved into the characters of Jim Hawkins, and The Captain, a new boarder at the Admiral Benbow inn. The Captain, a bit of a rascal, isn’t entirely liked by Jim or his parents. Jim’s father passes away, and The Captain falls ill due to alcoholism.

Additionally, we explored a poem, “Dead Man’s Chest,” that appears in the first chapter, examining its origin and meaning. Likewise, I shared a reedited post about the type of literature that Treasure Island falls under.

Next Week

Looking ahead, there’s much to read and study!

Monday: A Reading of Treasure Island, Chapter 3-6
Tuesday: Building Background, The Black Spot
Wednesday: Writing Craft, What makes a good pirate story?
Thursday: Poetry Analysis, “Give me the lad that’s gone”
Friday: Book List, A Long Walk to Water
Saturday: Literary Quotes: Robert Louis Stevenson
Sunday: Reflections
