Happy Sunday!
Today we are looking at what we learned last week and what is in store for next week. With September on the horizon, we are going to starting looking at some fall-themed posts.
Last Week
Last week, we read and learned about the latest adventures of Hank Morgan, and a slew of other posts that helped us get a glimpse into the world of the novel.
- Monday: We read chapters IX-XIII of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. We learned more about Hank’s adventures, including his own adventures riding around the realm with a new companion in tow–Sandy.
- Tuesday: We looked at correcting verb shifts for our Writing Craft, which will help us better understand tenses in our own writing.
- Wednesday: For our Word of the Week, we learned about Medieval Tournaments, and how those tournaments differed from what we’ve seen in media and how they are the same.
- Thursday: We also examined a quote for our Literary Quotes from J. Robert Oppenheimer, as its relationship to Mark Twain’s is unmistakable.
- Friday: We learned about the importance of looking beyond the idea of subjectivity in artistic criticism.
- Saturday: Finally, we dissected Merlin (1998), a mini-series starring Sam Neil, and featuring a story about the life of Merlin.
- Sunday: Reflections
Next week
For this coming week, we are going to look over the next few chapters of our novel study, and then try to tie our future posts to the core text chapters!
- Monday: We are going to read chapters XIV-XVIII and meet some new characters (and one really evil one!).
- Tuesday: For our writing craft, we are going to learn how to recognize and implement correlative conjunctions.
- Wednesday: For our Word of the Week, we are going to look at something more fall-ish, by examining witches (as it relates to Morgan Le Fey).
- Thursday: We will analyze a literary quote from Le Mort D’Arthur.
- Friday: I am going to pull a book off my shelf I haven’t read yet (or a digital one) and provide an outline and my impressions.
- Saturday: Lastly, we are going to look at the long history of Camelot in Literature with some landmark novels and films.
- Sunday: Reflections
Feel free to leave a comment or share a post this week if you find some interesting tidbits! Have a great week, and I hope to see you on the blog!
