Greetings, and today on Reflections we are going to look back at what we learned over the week and what we will be looking toward next week!
Last Week
We started the week out by reading chapters 6-10 of Turn of the Screw by Henry James. We then looked at the Word of the Week, which was “governess” and how that particular role was shaped by economic hardship. Continuing, we examined the idea of “eeriness” in gothic literature and how it effects the tone of writing.
Likewise, the eeriness continued as we read about Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart,” and then we contemplated death in Emily Dickinson’s poem “I felt a funeral in my brain.” Finally, we looked at Ray Bradbury’s short-story collection “The October Country.”
Next Week
Looking ahead, we have a lot of great material to go over:

Tuesday: Word of the Week, Ghost
Wednesday: Writing Craft, Dialogue
Thursday: Literary Analysis, reality versus imagination
